MAJOR ACTIVITIES
AREA EXPANSION
Under this component, financial assistance is provided to the farmers for
establishment of new orchards. The maximum limit of financial assistance varies
with plantation density. Besides, Technical guidance is also provided for
establishment of both normal density and high density plantation of all fruit crops
including strawberry.
CREATION OF IRRIGATION INFRASTRUCTURE
Under this component, assistance is provided for creating water sources
through construction of community tanks, farm ponds/reservoirs with poly
sheets/RCC, tube wells, dug wells to ensure life saving irrigation to Horticulture
crops. 100% assistance is provided for community and 50% of the cost for
individuals. For smaller size of the ponds/tube wells/dug wells, cost is admissible
on pro rata basis depending upon the capacity/ size of the unit.
For the successful establishment of Fruit Orchards in Kandi Areas,
Department of Horticulture successfully installed 200 Numbers of irrigation
sources in the current financial year 2020-21 under CSS like MIDH, PMDP &
PMKSY. Moreover keeping in view the public demand, an additional requirement
of 200 Number of Deep Bore-wells has also been projected under the NABARD
funded schemes for private sector which will also be having a long lasting effect
on the upliftment of rural masses through taking up Horticulture as a profession.
PROTECTED CULTIVATION
Activities like construction of green houses, shade net houses, plastic
mulching, plastic tunnels, anti-bird/hail nets are promoted under MIDH and
PMDP. Provision has been made for selecting a variety of construction material
for green houses and shade net houses. Preference is given to using locally
available material to minimize cost of construction of such structures. However,
